About AyuVault

The mission behind the vault

AyuVault is a private, offline-first health records app that helps families organize lab reports, prescriptions, medicines, vitals, and health reminders in one encrypted vault on their own phone. There is no account to create, no central health-record server, and no lock-in: your records live in an encrypted database on your device, and your backups are encrypted files that stay under your control.

Why we built AyuVault

In most families, health records are scattered. Lab reports arrive as PDFs on WhatsApp, prescriptions live as photos in the phone gallery, hospital records sit in separate portals with separate logins, and older reports exist only on paper. When a doctor asks "what was her hemoglobin last year?", the search begins - usually under pressure, usually incomplete.

We built AyuVault because we lived that problem ourselves. Managing health paperwork for parents, children, and grandparents across labs, clinics, and hospitals — especially in India, where families often coordinate care for several generations at once — should not require a filing cabinet, ten portal logins, or handing your family's most sensitive data to another cloud service.

Our mission

Our mission is simple: give families complete, private control of their own health records. Everything else follows from that — the offline-first design, the encryption, the review step before saving OCR-extracted values, and the open-source restore tool that guarantees your backups outlive any app or company.

The principles we won't compromise

  • Private by default. Health records are stored in an encrypted local database on your device. The vault encryption key is derived from your 6-digit PIN using PBKDF2-SHA256 key derivation, and encrypted backups are protected with AES-256-GCM using Argon2id-derived keys. We never see your records, your PIN, or your keys.
  • No account required. Core record keeping works without signing up, logging in, or sharing an email address.
  • Offline-first. Storing, scanning, tracking, and reminders work without an internet connection.
  • You own your data. Backups are portable, encrypted .avault files you keep wherever you choose. Our desktop restoration tool is open source, so your records remain recoverable on Windows, macOS, or Linux even if the mobile app is ever unavailable.
  • Honest about limits. OCR can make mistakes, so every extracted value goes through a review queue before saving. No software is perfectly secure, and we say so plainly on our Privacy & Security page.

What AyuVault does

AyuVault brings together the everyday tools a family needs to stay on top of health paperwork:

  • Organize lab reports, prescriptions, discharge summaries, scans, vaccination records, and insurance documents by family member.
  • Scan paper reports or import PDFs, with on-device OCR that extracts common lab values for your review.
  • Track biomarkers like hemoglobin, glucose, HbA1c, and cholesterol over time, alongside vitals like weight and blood pressure.
  • Manage medicines with doses, schedules, refill reminders, and local notifications.
  • Track period dates and cycle history with optional reminders.
  • Generate doctor-ready PDF summaries and a shareable emergency card — shared only when you choose.

What AyuVault is not

AyuVault is a personal health records organizer. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It helps you keep information organized and ready for the professionals who do — always consult a qualified doctor or healthcare professional for medical decisions.

Who builds AyuVault

AyuVault is built by a small, independent team of developers who manage health records for their own families. We are not owned by a hospital network, an insurer, or an advertising company, and our design choices reflect that independence: we deliberately built AyuVault so that we cannot access your data, because the best way to protect your records is to never hold them in the first place.
